We read the manual before we sell the board
Stavik is a small operation built around one habit: opening the documents that come with a product instead of trusting the listing that sells it.
The habit started with a discovery that surprised us. Sourcing boards for this site, we kept finding that the specification table on a product listing carried four fields — material, brand, model number, department — and not one of them was a measurement. The dimensions, the load rating, the age range and the safety limits were inside a PDF instruction manual further down the page, when they were anywhere at all. On one board the manual described a different material from the one the listing was selling. That gap between what a product page claims and what its own documentation says is where we decided this business would live.
What we sell, and why it is a short list
A balance board is a simple object: a deck, a curved underside, and a grip surface. What separates one from another is measurable — how many axes it tips on, how long the deck is against your foot, what load it carries, and who the maker says it is for. We would rather carry a few boards we can describe precisely than a catalogue we can only describe vaguely. Everything we list, we can tell you the dimensions of, because we went and found them.
Where the numbers come from
Every figure on this site carries its source and, where the source provides one, its certainty rating. When we cite a 24% reduction in falls, the page tells you it comes from 39 randomised trials covering 7,920 people and that Cochrane rated it high-certainty evidence. When a figure is weaker — the 56% drop in fractures rests on seven trials and a wide confidence interval — the page says that too, in the same sentence. Research summaries that strip the caveat are easier to read and worth less. You can follow every link and check us.
